An FBI investigation and congressional probes into the Trump campaign
and contacts with Russia continue to shadow the administration, each
new development a focus of White House press briefings and attention
on Capitol Hill. President Donald Trump has dismissed the story as
"fake news" and raised allegations of politically inspired spying by
the Obama administration, but the investigations show no sign of
abating anytime soon.

Trump offers no evidence in claim that Susan Rice committed a crime
and none has been found.

Washington (CNN)After a review of the same intelligence reports brought
to light by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, both Republican and
Democratic lawmakers and aides have so far found no evidence that Obama
administration officials did anything unusual or illegal, multiple
sources in both parties tell CNN.

Their private assessment contradicts President Donald Trump's
allegations that former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice broke
the law by requesting the "unmasking" of US individuals' identities.
Trump had claimed the matter was a "massive story."

However, over the last week, several members and staff of the House and
Senate intelligence committees have reviewed intelligence reports
related to those requests at NSA headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland.

One congressional intelligence source described the requests made by
Rice as "normal and appropriate" for officials who serve in that role to
the president.
And another source said there's "absolutely" no smoking gun in the
reports, urging the White House to declassify them to make clear there
was nothing alarming in the documents.

Thus ends Unmaskghazi!

Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes is the only Democrat on the House
Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence other than Rep. Adam
Schiff, the panel’s ranking minority member, to review intelligence
files showing former White House National Security Adviser Susan
Rice “unmasked” aides to President Donald Trump during his
transition to the Oval Office, The Daily Caller News Foundation’s
Investigative Group has learned.

The apparent lack of interest among the remaining seven Democrats on
the intelligence panel is in striking contrast to their earlier
vocal demands that they see the documents after committee chairman
Rep. Devin Nunes disclosed he had read them at the White House
complex.

According to a source with knowledge of congressional visits to the
National Security Agency, the classified documents have been
available to committee members for three weeks, but Himes and Schiff
are the lone Democrats to review them.

“Unmasking” refers to what happens when somebody reveals a
previously redacted name of an American citizen who was incidentally
overheard by U.S. intelligence assets while talking to a foreigner.

Unmasking is a perfectly normal and daily function.

Completely legal, and warranted by the circumstances.
