So, the leftists don't like Fox, they don't like Sinclair, they don't like Rupert Murdock. Whom to turn to? NBC, CNN, CBS and ABC? They are ALL left-wing. So the balance is STILL hugely lopsided in favour of leftists!!!!

No, it's not the leftists. It's likely the majority who do not wish to
hear constant lies and blatant falsehoods told on Fox Fake.

It's also very strange to force local news anchors to make blantantly
right-wing statements. It ain't American. I'm absolutely certain that
non-libs and non-conserves are also very concerned about it.

NBC, CNN, CBS and ABC don't blatantly lie, so I guess those you label
"leftists" are right and you are wrong. The lopsideness is because Fox
Fake is in no way fair or balanced and only deluded people would believe
such tripe. There's very little reason to watch Fox Fake, unless you
want to understand the basis of Trump's delusional tweets and executive
decisions.

Oh for fuck's sake. CNN is a group of satellite channels that DO NOT
pretend to be local in any way, despite Ed's lies about CNN in another
thread. NBC, CBS, and ABC aren't instructing their O&Os to present
national commentary as if it's local commentary.

Also, Sinclair owns affiliates of the national networks. It's just not
comparable.

There shouldn't be this much ownership consolidation by any single
party. Quite frankly, it was absolutely outrageous when Congress allowed
station groups owned by national networks to be larger than 5 O&Os.

Why are you apologizing for monopolization attempts, Rich?

A network is never local, dipshit, and local news never comes from the

I have corrected you on this numerous times but you continue to repeat
the very same lie.

News programs are regularly criticized for misrepresenting commentary as
a straight news segment, failing to disclose that news segments are
actually paid for by a sponsor, and for failing to disclose that a
segment was not produced by them but they got it from somewhere else.

Sinclair ups the ante by requiring that a national commentary piece be
read by a local news reporter as if it's a news story and not commentary.

It's unfortunate that you can't tell what's wrong here. Actually, I
think you understand perfectly well and are lying about it.

Of course local news would never come from the network or the national
owner of the broadcast station group. Ed's just being an imbecile.

Yes, there are features that come from other programming sources; video
and audio are supplied. Some may indeed be "must run". That the script
is written nationally but read over the air locally without stating who
had written the script is unique to Sinclair. Nobody cared all that much
when Sinclair was supplying the must-run feature as a video segment.

This is misrepresentation.

WGN news, one of the Trib stations proposed for acquisition, has
national segments. These are specifically set off from local news and
have a special title card. I have no idea who produced (and yeah, it
should be identified) but they aren't pretending that it was written
in the local newsroom.

The local affliates of the 3 major networks do this too; it's a feed

Nonsense, CNN, The New York Times, Huffington Post, etc. all can
and do tell their employees what to say/write, all the way from simply
critiquing or editing a story to providing a complete script that’s read
on the air in-full and there is nothing illegal or immoral about this.

That Sinclair broadcasts via local channels while the others are national
or global doesn’t make a single shit of difference.

Are you suggesting that employees have complete freedom of speech
at work and on the company's dime and the boss can't do anything
about it?

Like the coward that he is, Ed Stasiak quotes selectively. I've already
addressed each of these points specifically.

Nonsense, CNN,
CNN has no concept of "local broadcast stations"; it's not comparable.
I've stated this over and over and over again. I think you actually
understand it but you're repeating the same stupidity over and over
again because you're too much of a jerk to flat out admit that your
analogies suck.
Post by Ed Stasiak
The New York Times,
Reporters are all unionized. If a reporter's byline appeared on a work
that he didn't write, there would be a grievance. The union contract
specifically protects against exactly this sort of mispresentation.
Post by Ed Stasiak
Huffington Post, etc.
If that occurred, the writer would simply move his blog somewhere else.

All the misrepresentation shit you pull constantly on Usenet, Ed, is
never tolerated by any professional writer in America under any
circumstances.
Post by Ed Stasiak

Editing a story is not a misrepresentation of the story's origin. A good
editor may shorten a paragraph or cut portions of the story, but he will
never re-write it to mean exactly the opposite of what the reporter wrote.
If the latter happens, the reporter is obligated to resign.

No one said "illegal" nor "immoral". It is unethical. It truly is
unfortunate that you think you can get away with your bullshit by
abusing English moviePig style.

Just because you deny that there's a difference doesn't allow you to
declare victory, Ed. That's not the way argument works.

I know it's confusing, Ed, but you can tell what I wrote because it's my
name on From. The way you have re-written what I'd already written to
suggest that I meant something entirely different is a perfect example
of the way you misrepresent your opponent's words on Usenet. You do it
constantly, and I will continue to call you on it.

Of course you speak up for misrepresentation. It's why you exist on Usenet,
everything that you live for.

A lot do. If their bosses don't agree, they don't renew their contracts
- but many times the bosses do NOT dictate what the newspeople run.

Outside of Fox, of course... but, then they're not a "news"
organization. They're propaganda.

It matters because people who watch local news believe they have a
closer relationship with the community, and tend to trust what they say
more than national anchors.

Nope, they don't get fired.
Find a reputable newsman who's said that, Ed.

If they're there, like you allege, then they shouldn't be hard to find
dozens of fired newspeople just waiting to tell their stories.
