Cool! I didn't "love" this like, say, "Dark Matter", "The Magicians" or "The Expanse", but I found it solidly entertaining, and will definitely watch a second season. :)

Very good! I like the show. Its mostly comic book like but I don't see
that as a bad thing just a way to see it in perspective. I still
having a very difficult time with one of the plot devices though, that
EVERYONE, no matter how evil themselves, WILLINGLY gave up firearms
and went back swords and other edged weapons (and bows and arrows I
think) but still kept automobiles and motorcycles. Need more back
story to find out how the hell did all the surviving humans of some
sort of Apocalypse agreed to ditch guns. I can see how a society can
devolve back into feudalism but give up guns? Major Suspension of
Disbelief.

No, it was explicitly stated in the first episode's prologue that after
the Apocalypse people gave up guns. Yes logically that makes absolutely
no sense but it does make for some really cool martial arts magic
scenes. :D

Traditional martial arts involves jumping in the air and flying sideways
across the screen to kick/punch the target.

simply don't exist.
No, it was explicitly stated in the first episode's prologue that after
the Apocalypse people gave up guns. Yes logically that makes absolutely
no sense but it does make for some really cool martial arts magic
scenes. :D
I quit watching early, but assume you mean 'magic' figuratively...
No, it's got to be magic.

AMC IS GOING BACK "INTO THE BADLANDS"
Acclaimed Martial Arts Drama Renewed For 10-Episode Second Season To
Premiere in 2017
"Badlands" Delivered Third Highest-Rated First Season In U.S. Cable
History
AMC Global will Premiere Season Two Within Minutes of U.S. Broadcast
NEW YORK, NY - March 8, 2016 - AMC announced today that it has renewed
the acclaimed martial arts drama "Into the Badlands" for a 10-episode
second season, premiering on AMC in 2017. The show delivered the third
highest-rated first season in U.S. cable TV history and scored with
critics and fans for its immersive world and the artistry of its
elaborate fight sequences.
In the U.S., Nielsen live+7 ratings, the show's first season averaged
5.6 million viewers per episode, including 3.5 million adults 25-54
and 3.4 million adults 18-49.
"With its deep dive into authentic martial arts, the visually stunning
'Into the Badlands' proved to be unlike anything else on television,"
said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios.

"Co-creators and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar, along with a
talented team of producers, cast and crew, brought us an artfully
crafted series. We're eager to return to the world of barons and
blades and spend even more time with these compelling and evolving
characters across an expanded second season."
"We can't imagine any other network bold enough to embrace a show like
this," said Gough and Millar. "We are incredibly grateful to Charlie,
Joel and the entire AMC team for taking this leap of faith with us and
we look forward to continuing the journey into the Badlands!"
Simultaneous to its U.S. launch, AMC Global will premiere season two
of "Into the Badlands" within minutes of the U.S. broadcast. AMC
Global premiered season one in 125 countries simultaneous to the AMC
U.S. premiere, and the series achieved record-breaking performance in
key markets.
From AMC Studios, "Into the Badlands" was created by
showrunners/executive producers/writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar
and executive produced by Oscar(R)-nominated producers Stacey Sher and
Michael Shamberg, director David Dobkin, fight director Stephen Fung
and Daniel Wu.
"Into the Badlands" stars Wu ("Tai Chi Zero") as Sunny; Marton Csokas
("The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King") as Quinn; Aramis
Knight ("The Dark Knight Rises") as M.K.; Oliver Stark ("Luther") as
Ryder; Emily Beecham ("28 Weeks Later") as The Widow; Orla Brady ("Dr.
Who," "Fringe") as Lydia; Sarah Bolger ("Once Upon a Time," "The
Tudors") as Jade; Ally Ioannides ("Parenthood") as Tilda; and
Madeleine Mantock ("Edge of Tomorrow") as Veil.
----
Major Suspension of
Disbelief.
Have we ever seen a gun? I think it's just an alternate universe where guns
simply don't exist.
No, it was explicitly stated in the first episode's prologue that after

no sense but it does make for some really cool martial arts magic

----
No obvious supernatural magic, at least not yet (although those "Super
Monks" from Lydia's father's religious cult that beat the shit out of
Sunny and easily controlled and captured MK in the season finale could
have been supernatural in training), but the martial arts moves are
the "magical" type in like say "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and
"Kill Bill". In fact it is typical of the Asian martial arts film
genre of the last 45 years or so that are so popular over there such
as the Bruce Lee flicks of the 1970s. "Into the Badlands" were
inspired by such movies (all that's missing is the dubbed in sound of
flapping bird wings when they do flip and jumping moves). Nothing
wrong with that, but its hardly "realistic" as the article says, but
I'm enjoying the fight scenes just like I did with the Bruce Lee
movies.

I enjoyed Bruce Lee, too, but it was that very content-premise of 'Into the Badlands' that biased me against giving it a fair shot: I wasn't willing to tune in weekly for a show whose action was mandated to regularly stop cold for an obligatory 5 minutes of Action.

It was said in the first episode that everyone gave up guns after
whatever Apocalypse happened. I can't see that ever happening for any
reason. I just don't see a man like Quinn doing that without some kind
of outside force forcing him to do so.

But even if the premise was that they never developed firearms in the
first place I would have just as much trouble with that. I can't see a
way a society that can develop fairly high technology that would
include automobiles and grammar phones somehow missing creating
firearms. To me a society has to somehow not develop gunpowder and the
blow gun and someone somewhere not putting those two things
together-not even accidentally as a lot of inventions and discoveries
happen-for that to happen
