I watched:

THE FACTS OF LIFE:
"The Sound of Silence". Tootie refuses to acknowledge a hearing loss that may
be responsible for a slip in her grades. Cousin Geri appears in this VSE.

DIFF'RENT STROKES:
"Baseball Blues". Sam persuades a reluctant Mr. Drummond to become the coach
of his "bad news" baseball team. They pretty much hang a hat on Sam being a
sub for not-so-cute Gary Coleman when Mr Drummand begged Sam not to make
"those sad dog eyes" to convince him to beceom his coach.

BENSON:
"We Deliver". Denise's baby is on the way, but the elevator isn't, leaving
Benson and the Governor to perform the delivery between floors.

BENSON:
"Endicott Dynasty". Clayton's father is looking for a successor from the
Governor's staff to replace him as chairman of Endicott Industries - but his
choice isn't Clayton.

BENSON:
"The Little Hotel That Could". Despite Benson's preoccupation with the state's
imminent budget crisis, Kraus strong-arms him into helping to save a historic
hotel.

BEASTMASTER:
"The Island". Dar must rescue Tao (Jackson Raine) when he becomes a prisoner
on an island inhabited by evil birdmen who revere birds, but have little
respect for other men.

BEASTMASTER:
"Obsession". Dar joins forces with a banished Terron warrior, but he
doesn't realize that they are both in love with the same woman---Kyra.
Can you guess what happened when they realized they loved the same
woman while attempting to rescue her?

THE LOVE BOAT:
Merry Christmas!
• "Lonely at the Top". The crew is bemoaning spending Xmas on the ship
when the Captain shows up, reminding them that at least they have jobs
and that he's not into the Xmas giving thing (Bah! Humbug!). With that
scene finished, Darin Stevens 2 is a priest taking a bunch of orphan
brats on their annual Xmas cruise, thanks to an unknown benefactor. For
the entire cruise, the rascals try to get their hands on booze (oh,
those scamps!). Captain Stubing volunteers to be Santa and screws up
when he doesn't have enough gifts, so he later finds the giftless child
and gives him the sextant his father gave him. Why would a doctor have a
sextant? In a totally unexpected twist, they reveal at the end that the
orphans know Captain Stubing because he visits them every month (what?)
and he is the not-at-all mysterious benefactor. At the end, Stubing
decides to break the rules and exchange gifts and those kids managed to
buy him a bottle of wine using Ye Olde Two_Children-wearing-a-trenchcoat
trick!
• "Divorce Me, Please". Mrs Brady and a guy who looks like a fat Scott
Bakula want to divorce each other but don't want to be initiator. Mrs
Brady decides wasting money like Obama will make her husband divorce her
while the husband decides to be a drunkard and embarass her into
divorcing him. What's the deal with drunkards wearing lampshades joke?
To make a long story short (too late!), they both laugh at each other
and their love is renewed.
• "Silent Night". A parole who was sent to prison for embezzlement
celebrates his freedom and new life with his wife, only to encounter the
District Attourney, and co-worker, who botched his case and got him
imprisoned for several years. When his wife finds a gun while looking
for her husband's hankerchief, he admits that he arranged to be on the
same cruise as his D.A. in order to kill him for framing him. The wife
accepts his story and tells no one. Later, he confronts his D.A. but
spares his life after hearing some carolers and yes, he was framed. As
they disembark, the ex-partner tells the couple he had a change of heart
and confessed to the crime and managed to expunge his criminal record
and restored his law license.

STAR TREK: THE ANIMATED SERIES:
"The Magic of Megus-Tu". In search of the center of the Big Bang at the
center of the galaxy, the Enterprise discovers a race of powerful magical
aliens who had once visited Earth.

STAR TREK: THE ANIMATED SERIES:
"Once Upon a Planet". Kirk returns to a planet for shore leave but finds
that it is less peaceful than he remembers it to be.

FAMILY GUY:
"Three Directors". Peter gets fired in the signature styles of three
famous Hollywood directors. What sounded like an intriguing concept
fell flat as they chose three hacks: Tarintino, a whimsical hack,
and Michael Bey.

What did you watch?

WESTWORLD
I guess somebody thought it would be clever to do (almost) an entire
episode you had to read using subtitles. They were wrong. But at least
everything that happened was either pointless or stupid.
I have this saved for later.

Succession - New Showtime series about a rich family that runs a media
empire. The eldest son's plans to take over from the father come to an
abrupt end when the dad decides not to retire. I guess it was OK. I'll
probably watch one more before deciding the show's fate.

The Tony Awards- Mostly meh. Although I was surprised to learn that
Supergirl is currently headlining a Broadway musical.

Thoroughbreds (Netflix rental) - Two rich girls plot to murder the
stepfather of one. They loop in a low level drug dealer (Anton Yelchin
in one of his final roles) to do the deed. It was OK, I guess. But a
bit derivative of earlier movies. If it had been made 10 years ago, it
would have starred Ellen Page as one of the teens...

Hereditary (theatrical) I went into this knowing almost nothing about
it. The trailers were incomprehensible. But the reviews were raving
about how this is one of the greatest horror movies ever. Well, now
that I've seen it...the movie is just as incomprehensible as the
trailers... Not that I couldn't follow what was happening, but little
of it made sense. Let me try to put this into context, there is a scene
in the movie where a dog walks into frame and I had to ask myself does
the family have a pet dog or is that a hallucination because I honestly
had no idea. So yes, I followed that there was a dog in the frame, but
if the dog was even real or not, I don't know. However, I just read
this morning that there was originally a 3 hour cut so in hindsight
maybe they did have a family dog and all of the scenes were cut. Anyway
I also read that while the professional reviewers are raving the
audience score is D+. I'd probably give it a C-. It's effective in
being tense with the occasional jump scare, but I wouldn't want to watch
it again. I know the one thing I haven't discussed is the plot. I'm
not even going to try and bother with that.

For some reason I knew that, but I didn't care. Although I hope it's so
successful that she never goes back to TV.

She's Exhibit A of a "musical theater nerd". I'm actually surprised she
agreed to headline a TV show, esp. one that doesn't involve singing and
dancing!!... ;p

So I see the drama teacher at the Parkland, Florida, high school got a
Tony Award last night for Excellence in Drama Education or something.
How does she ever look at that award and think that she actually
deserved it? How does she ever see it on the shelf and not think, "I
only got that because some guy shot up the school I teach in and if that
hadn't happened, there's no way the Tonys would even know who I am, let
alone be handing me awards"?

Maybe Melissa Benoist is trying to dig herself out of the very deep hole
that Supergirl has put her in? I don't know how she'll have a career
otherwise.

I think all we learned (and I'm not entirely sure we learned this) is
that the Indians took to scalping themselves and carving the map into
the undersides of their scalps and putting them back on (a practice that
seems to have spread to non indians as well) which the control room has
*never* noticed.

Also we now know that the hosts can run for a decade without recharging
or maintenance of any kind (and we're taking original flavor hosts with
all those rods and pistons in their bellys) and nobody keeps a log of
upgrades.

Private Eyes:
"Murder at Preston Hall" (My guess for a title; I have no idea what the
real title is). Shade and Everett, and their respective squeezes, go to
Preston Hall, an exclusive resort, to spend a couple of hours working on
a case for the co-owner of the resort, then spend the rest of the
weekend relaxing in luxury. The co-owner is an old teammate of Shade's
and shares ownership of the hotel with his husband William. (I don't
follow any sports, including hockey, so colour me surprised that the NHL
has any black hockey players, let alone gay black hockey players!) The
weekend soon takes a bad turn when William is found dead, bludgeoned to
death with a bookend, and Shade's teammate is the prime suspect. While
all this is going on, Everett's squeeze proposes marriage to her but the
sudden murder case keeps her from answering yes or no. However, she does
try on the ring but can't get it off, causing serious confusion for both
Shade and her squeeze. In the meantime, Shade and Everett have set up
Zoe and Maz for a date at a locked room establishment.

Governor's staff to replace him as chairman of Endicott Industries - but his
choice isn't Clayton.
"The Little Hotel That Could". Despite Benson's preoccupation with the state's
imminent budget crisis, Kraus strong-arms him into helping to save a historic
hotel.
"The Island". Dar must rescue Tao (Jackson Raine) when he becomes a prisoner
on an island inhabited by evil birdmen who revere birds, but have little
respect for other men.
"Obsession". Dar joins forces with a banished Terron warrior, but he
doesn't realize that they are both in love with the same woman---Kyra.
Can you guess what happened when they realized they loved the same
woman while attempting to rescue her?
"The Magic of Megus-Tu". In search of the center of the Big Bang at the
center of the galaxy, the Enterprise discovers a race of powerful magical
aliens who had once visited Earth.
"Once Upon a Planet". Kirk returns to a planet for shore leave but finds
that it is less peaceful than he remembers it to be.
"Three Directors". Peter gets fired in the signature styles of three
famous Hollywood directors. What sounded like an intriguing concept
fell flat as they chose three hacks: Tarintino, a whimsical hack,
and Michael Bey.
What did you watch?
"Murder at Preston Hall" (My guess for a title; I have no idea what the

"The Sound of Silence". Tootie refuses to acknowledge a hearing loss that may
be responsible for a slip in her grades. Cousin Geri appears in this VSE.
"We Deliver". Denise's baby is on the way, but the elevator isn't, leaving
Benson and the Governor to perform the delivery between floors.
"Endicott Dynasty". Clayton's father is looking for a successor from the
Governor's staff to replace him as chairman of Endicott Industries - but his

What did you watch?
GOOD WITCH 'Til Death Do Us Part

Her Corpulent Fatness cons Witch Daughter into updating the town website
with new information reflecting recent awards and such which somehow
bizarrely becomes a hunt for information on The Lady of Largeness's
ancestors to 'pad' out her resumé which proves her grandfather didn't
really save those kids so the street name that has nothing to do with
her was changed which proves her grandMOTHER really saved the kids but
couldn't admit it because then everybody would know she was a criminal
which is somehow a good thing because Hidden Voices and 'nothing was
ever accomplished by men' I guess. It made no sense. Also there are no
locks on the archives because Mayor Massive McCheeseburger is so stupid
she always loses her keys and the password for the city computer (not
the website) is 'Password' because The Honorable Biggie Size Those Fries
is so stupid she can't remember any other password. Honest. They said
that. There was also a lot of computer terminology in the other
segments that continually proved that whomever wrote this doesn't know a
thing about computers.

The Son of Sam is putting off his college applications so (I think)
Cassie magics him into helping others witch accomplishes ... I'm not
really sure what. We did find out the town has a homeless shelter.

The Father of Son of Sam flies off to Columbia to help disaster victims
he helped last year (guess it wore off) but after a lot of 'will he die'
and 'will this be a Doctor is in jeopardy cliffhanger' nonsense, which
even had Cassie say her dead husband's name aloud (!) nothing came of it
and he got back just fine. We did find out there's a doctor who covers
for him. And nearly losing him (which in no way shape or form actually
happened) gets Cassie who has been procrastinating on the wedding to
expedite it.

Sarah Power (Ian's ears just went straight up like a dog in a food
commercial) starts a romance with the dating website guy from last week
that involves her walking him all over town in the snow. He ogles the
backs of her thighs. They admit to googling each other. She says he's
surprised he found any information on her, but he explains he had to
drill through a couple of filters to find it. Because that makes sense.
Then everybody asks what's wrong with her 'cause her face is so weird
because nobody ever saw her smile before, and, she really really did
look like she'd been sprayed with Joker gas!

Next week: the emergency search for the perfect wedding dress!

What did you watch?
On a day I finally tackled some house cleaning/organization that I'd
been putting off for *months*, I didn't watch all that much...:

C.B. Strike (Cinemax OnDemand) - "The Cuckoo's Calling, Parts 1 & 2".
(Note: I actually watched "Part 1" on Saturday...)
I like this. It's kind of standard "hard-scrabble" P.I./murder
mystery stuff, but this is a genre that generally works for me.
In the premiere episode, Holliday Grainger's Robin Ellacott is
introduced as a "temp" secretary/office manager sent to work for
hard-scrabble P.I. Cormoran Strike (Tom Burke) (his middle name is
"Blue" which did come up at some point...). But you know that she won't
be a temp for long, esp. when Strike starts taking her "out into the
field" on his most recent P.I. case - the suicide(? or is it murder?!?)
of an international supermodel... The first episode sets the table.
In the second episode, Strike continues to interview witnesses and
track down leads, and ultimately does determine that it was *murder*.
(He also boffs a blond supermodel on the side.) Meanwhile, Robin gets a
permanent job offer... to work in H.R.! (Does anyone think she's going
to take this job!?!) This, of course, is already creating conflict with
her boyfriend, who doesn't approve of her working for Strike. Indeed,
at the end, Robin has to go trolling bars to go find Stike, and pour
the drunkard into bed after his ex announces her engagement.
Apparently, this mystery will conclude with Part 3. There's two more
mysteries after that...

Legion - "Chapter 17" (ep. #3.9). The parts of this episode with Cary
and Kerry were decent; the parts with Lennie were mixed (it was
mean-spirited that the blonde chyck with Lennie went apparently
uncredited for this episode!... :/ ); the parts with Melanie were
just bad (despite the "Young Melanie" actress being a bit of a
biscuit!), and of course the episode started with that, which
immediately put this episode behind on points... :/ But the elements
that David wanted assembled for his plan against Farouk are assembling,
except for Clark, whom Melanie took out of commission at the end of the
previous episode.
Just two more episodes of this season to go.

golf - Dustin Johnson so ran away with the St. Jude Classic that I
didn't even bother to finish it out!...

Code Black (recorded) - CBS aired two episodes of this on May 30, and I
accidentally watched the second of those, "Hell's Heart" (ep. #3.6)
first - I'll have to go back and watch "Cabin Pressure" (ep. #3.5) soon
now...
Anyway, they must have busted their "guest star budget" on this epie
alone! as it guest-starred not just Gregory Itzin (as a former surgeon
who's terminal) but also David Clennon (as Willis' dad!). Itzin's
storyline mostly intersected with Ariel's (Emily Alyn Lind) - in a
surprise to no one, it's this episode where she decides she wants to
become a doctor. Ariel's presence also causes Rorish and Savetti to
clash (no Kean this epie...), and causes Ariel's social worker to write
them up over Ariel working at the hospital. Meanwhile, Willis and Rox
search for a missing boy with some firefighters in a active-fire area,
with predictable consequences and results. And Dixon (Noah Gray-Cabey)
is about 5 seconds away from washing out of the residency program as
he's spooked by the lawsuit.

Stalked by My Doctor: Patient's Revenge (Lifetime) - It's clear that
they were having us totally on with this one! - that was made clear by
the song and dance number Eric Roberts does with Anna Marie Dobbins!
(It's actually all in his head, you see!) They also let Brianna Chomer
"cut loose" in this one, as she acts as almost as much of a lunatic as
Roberts' character! (In this one, his imaginary shrink from the second
movie has been replaced by his "conscience" - also played by Eric
Roberts!!)
Anyway, Chomer from movie #1 is enraged that Roberts Dr. Beck has
escaped justice by being acquitted during his trial (after the second
movie, presumably), and has vowed to take Dr. Beck down by any means
necessary. Meanwhile, Beck has taken a teaching job at "Southwestern
Arizona University" (heh), where one of his students (Dobbins) seems to
be taking an actual shine to him, and who believes that Chomer's
character is a lunatic... It doesn't take long to see where this is
really going!
My one complaint here was the ending - they had a chance to properly
resolve this as a movie "trilogy", but passed on doing so, likely so
they can film more of these if they want. (Personally, I think they
should have stopped here...) Also, they hand wave away Chomer's
character's fate, but I suspect she'd be in a lot of trouble in the
real world (maybe they'll use that to explain why she isn't in movie
#4, if there is one). They also ignore the implications of Dobbins'
character's actions.
Still, this was probably the best of the lot of the "Stalked by My
Doctor" flicks...

Recorded for later: Just "Into the Badlands".

of "kill"?" - M-OC, "A Perilous Rescue" (ep. #2.9), LSW:TFA (08-10-2017)

What did you watch?
I watched several episodes of 'The Crossing'. Okay, its Rancid Onion
rating does drop. Down to about a 3 now since they don't seem to be
introducing new conspiracies every other episode. But after I was done
with TV for the night I realized that 'The Crossing' was just a
repackaging of 'The Event'. Same basic premise, same basic story, close
to the same execution. Somehow that made me feel better that it has
been cancelled.

Big mistake that pisses me off and makes me wonder whether I should

And after last week's episode, I took Westworld off my DVR. I'm tired of
watching a show that's showing us how cool it is rather than telling a

That was my take on this week's Westworld too. I couldn't believe all the
professional critics and many fans calling this the best episode in the
show's history. It was beautifully shot but c'mon. Get on with the
story already.

One comment I laughed about though. Someone said this was Westworld's
"Jack's tattoo" episode from LOST.

Like that show, I get the distinct impression that Westworld is just another
show they're making up as they go along with no clear end in sight.

Fear the Walking Dead: season 4 midseason finale
Big mistake that pisses me off and makes me wonder whether I should

I went to the TALKING DEAD taping yesterday. Haven't been able talk
about it until now because AMC made me sign a 3-page non-disclosure
agreement that not only prohibits revealing anything about the episode,
but it even forbids me from publicly disliking the episode.

After we watched the episode, the producer came out and auditioned
audience questions and as soon as the guy who ultimately got picked
asked his, I knew he'd be the one.

Apparently this taping was an anomaly. The show is normally live and
filmed at night so they can do all the internet polls and stuff, but
because the FEAR wrap party was last night in Austin, they decided to
pre-record the show to give the actors time to make it to the airport
and fly to Texas afterward.

The set looks a *lot* bigger on TV than it really is. Those fish-eye
camera lenses are deceiving.

Alicia Debnam-Carey looks a *lot* more sumptuous in person. Quite a
stunner.

It was cool that after the show, refreshments were provided for everyone
and Chris Hardwick, Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, and Kim Dickens all
mixed and mingled with the audience and shook everyone's hand and
chatted for a while instead of just dashing off-stage like usually
happens at things like this.

(I can't tell you what I talked with Kim Dickens about because that
might be some kind spoiler or display of an unauthorized attitude and
AMC will have me murdered, per clause 13, subsection 3c of the
non-disclosure agreement.)

it airs on the East Coast, but I couldn't find any expiration on the bit
about never publicly disparaging the episode.

What did you watch?
Fear the Walking Dead: season 4 midseason finale
Big mistake that pisses me off and makes me wonder whether I should
continue with the series. Reddit is flaming.
Does this thing have an expiration date?
The parts about not discussing the episode plot seemed to expire after
it airs on the East Coast, but I couldn't find any expiration on the bit
about never publicly disparaging the episode.
And what value did you receive in return for this perpetual vow of
silence?
Apparently the joy of being admitted to watch the taping.

At least they gave you a copy. The vast majority of NDAs I've seen
involve one person signing the only copy of a sheet of paper on a
clipboard.

How would they know that the guy who disparaged the episode is the same
guy that signed the NDA? I'm assuming BTR1701 is NOT the name you put on
the NDA ;-)

Also, are you forbidden to disparage the Walking Dead episode, the
Talking Dead chat or both? I suppose they could object to you
disparaging both but it seems to me they would be far more concerned
with the Walking Dead episode.

They required you to provide all social media handles and internet screen
names with the NDA.

Not that I did, of course. The perky PA actually came back to me after we'd
handed them all in and said, "Sir, you forgot to list your Facebook and
Instagram and Twitter accounts." I told her that I didn't have any of that
and that I don't use social media. She looked at me like I was some
particularly interesting species of insect, but I guess she just assumed I
was one of those bizarre and inscrutable old people whose technophobia
keeps them realizing the narcissistic joys of sharing every moment of their
lives with the world.

That's fine - I never liked that character.

OTOH, I wish they'd kill off Alicia, so Alycia Debnam-Carey can go star
on a show I might actually want to watch!! ;p

Oh, boy. That's for sure. Legion is like The Emporer has no clothes of TV
shows. If Roseanne had just watched Legion to put her to sleep she'd have
never been hopped up on Ambien.

Did she want off the show? Otherwise, it make no sense to me. I

Nope. She's already online talking about how disappointed she was when they
told her.
And I agree. this non-linear storytelling choice sucks.

CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD

I knew the Kardasians were on but figured I could tough it out through
their half hour to see the other match. Nope, an entire hour was spent
on a single game of the Kardasians vs. the Wests.

Then, to top it off, during Fast Money, the question was "On a scale of
1 to 10, rate how sexy you are compared to your coworkers".

Sure enough, Kim answered 10.

WESTWORLD / 2x08 / Kiksuya

[Mi cante ki yu ha ya ye. (Take my heart when you go.)]

"This is the wrong world."

Overall, this one reminded me of the season two episode of STRANGER
THINGS where the braintrust decided to focus almost entirely on Eleven
and her mostly disconnected subplot at that time for no reason
whatsoever, given that the content of that episode could have easily
been distributed among other episodes in a way that would not have
killed the building momentum of those other plots. It was a bad call on
STRANGER THINGS and it was a bad call here, and for the same reason,
even if Ghost Dude's story isn't as disconnected at this point as
Eleven's was at that point.

In terms of story advancement, Ghost Dude 1.0 is a mellow guy in love.
At some point, he finds corpses in town, included Dolores and Arnold.
And he finds the maze symbol. He begins to obsessively draw it
everywhere. Ghost Dude v2 comes along after an "upgrade" in the Delos
basement and is more violent. In time, he finds the infamous door. He
kidnaps his wife, who no longer remembers him, but eventually she does.
But they can't find the door again. Delos finds her and takes her from
him, which does not please him. The next time he sneaks in to her tent,
a different host is there in her place, which also does not please him.
At this point, he wants to meet the girl who once helped him -- who
happens to be the cute-as-a-sack-of-puppies daughter of Maeve -- and,
along the way, he crosses paths with Ford. The two have a typically
Fordian conversation in which Ford tells him that the maze symbol was
meant to die, but that Ghost Dude had kept it alive somehow. Ghost Dude
later finds Ford dead among other corpses.

In the little bit of non-Ghost Nation stuff, Miss Perfect Breasts shows
up to claim her dad, William in Black. She assures Ghost Dude that she
wants to hurt her father even more than Ghost dude does, and it's not
hard to believe or understand at this point. So Ghost Dude lets her take
him away. Sadly, her breasts remain covered throughout this entire
process. Elsewhere, Maeve is in the "mesh," talking to Ghost Dude, which
is something that surprises the Delos techs in the basement. Ghost Dude
promises to guard Maeve's daughter and encourages Maeve to find the two
of them. And something tells me that Maeve is going to do exactly that,
given that the misunderstanding of Ghost Dude's intentions all along
seems to have been cleared up at this point. I look forward to seeing
the havoc that Maeve and Ghost Dude can cause once they team up.

Grade: B-

I'm awestruck that she's almost 40! Trilingual, too!
Hmm...those two nekkid ones don't appear to be the same woman. The
shadows are tricky in the Doctor Who one, but I don't think the areolas
match up, for starters. (C'mon, we *are* talking about Miss Perfect
Breasts, after all. You think I'm gonna compare faces?) I'd have to do
much more hands-on research to confirm this, of course.
LOL
You'd be surprised by how many people fail to appreciate the
self-sacrifices that I'm willing to make.
