No. That isn't what a coup looks like. A coup is a sudden, violent
attempt to seize power.

According to them, people voting in elections they don't like is also a coup.

I remember reading about his measures to guard against Trump pique
lunacy. Yeah, probably nothing would've happened anyway. Mostly.

I'm not sure what Milley's end-game was, but, for it to be a 'coup', I
think I'd need to see him hold onto power for longer than 10 minutes...

The problem with Derp is he's no longer a rational human being. His
white supremacist brainwashing won't allow him to ascribe blame to Trump
or the insurrectionists. He doesn't even have the balls to broach the
topic(s). It's funny to hear him talk about Allison Mack since he's
been indoctrinated into a cult just as bad or worse. I don't know if
it's Proud Boys, Oath Keepers or some other splinter group, but it's
some bunch of assholes. I actually wonder if he's committed acts of
domestic terrorism yet.

Gen. Milley is a patriot of the highest order and always has been. In
this case, China was worried (and had reason to believe) that a
deranged Trump would try something on his way out. Gen. Milley was
reassuring the Chinese that he would not let this happen, and he kept
his word.

Gen. Milley is a patriot of the highest order
The President can’t launch nukes on his own and the Chinese know this,
which makes Milley’s actions treason for which he should be prosecuted.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/heres-goes-presidents-decision-launch-nuclear-weapons

But what critics worry about, and when you hear them talking about particularly what I call the bar man scenario, when you're talking to folks over a drink at a bar, to say, what if the president wakes up in the middle of the night, gets angry, gets in a tweet storm, and then tries to launch a nuclear weapon — the system is not designed to respond quickly in that case. He would issue the order, but as he is issuing the order, he would also be alerting the chain of command that he's just come up with this crazy decision. And that chain of command, while not legally required and while not technically required to agree with the president, in practice, the chain of command would have ample opportunity to walk that decision back.

If the president is banging on the table in anger with no provocation, I don't think the system would respond the way the critics worry about. If the president reaches the decision after conferring with his advisers and then makes the decision, then the system will carry out the order.

Treason? Nonsense. Give it a rest, or go prosecute him yourself.

In fact the president can launch on his own. Under protocols long in
effect, there's supposed to be input and consultation and so on, but in
the end the president contacts the guy in charge in Omaha and releases
the weapons to him. The guy then goes ahead and fights the war as he
sees fit. The release does not even have to be in the face of an
attack, but can be done in the expectation of an enemy launch. The
difference might be a matter of five to seven minutes.

I don't think it really matters. In 30 minutes either way it would all be over. Trump may be a little crazy but he is not suicidal. A nuclear attack against China would reveal who was attacking, the method of attack and severely damage China as a US trading partner (understatement) Imagine NO container ships ever again arriving in Los Angeles, ever again to supply American markets. The disruption alone would be catastrophic.

No, a nuclear attack against China is all wrong, and Trump knew it even in his worse moments.

What the damaging 'Peril' allegations against Trump are, and setting the stage for future machinations by the deep state are to, establish that Trump was mentally unstable and **capable of attacking China**.

A covert attack using a biological weapon would injure and slow China's economy and hegemony aspirations, but not destroy it's manufacturing exports to America.

The desired lesson Americans must learn, as taught by the National Security State is, the US military and covert services stepped in and saved America.

Treason?
Glad Milley did it, because it was a nightmare scenario we were all
thinking about.
Weird how you're not thinking about it now, with a president that's one neuron
away from catatonia.
Does horse paste work on that?

Doesn't there have to be a finding that we're in a war, before the
president can launch? No one figured the president would launch over a
trade war.

Not during an attack or imminent threat of attack. 30 minutes, and then we all put our head between our legs and kiss our collective assess goodbye.

But a covert operation has plenty of time.... and the advantage of blaming the attack on somebody else of our choosing.

only one who remembers that he started two wars?

How was Trump unpredictable? He telegraphed absolutely everything he was
going to do. At no point during his administration did you ever
personally believe he'd start a war with China on a whim without first
tweeting about it.

We weren't on the brink of war with China. I get that Milley was upset.
I remember how I felt that day. But it was purely domestic crap, nothing
that would have led to war.

It's not that he was unpredictable, but that no one expected that

much of the Whitehouse's business on Twitter?

Yes, but isn't that the point that Milley was making in talking with

That's debatable. I think an argument can made that the hierarchy of
command at *all* levels is the military's basic fabric.

Somebody please explain to me how telling China the US has no
intention of war with China is other than simply restating known
existing policy?

And how do we get from that to treason?

I would understand had he given them the opposite message....

Great!

Actually going to war -- twice -- is worse than Trump, who didn't
go to war, nor did he threaten to go to war with China after January 6.

Somehow, I'm still the only one on all of Usenet who understands this.

No one predicted a George W. Bush presidency either. How is it I'm the
only one who remembers that he started two wars?
Oh I remember that.
Great!
Actually going to war -- twice -- is worse than Trump, who didn't
go to war, nor did he threaten to go to war with China after January 6.
Somehow, I'm still the only one on all of Usenet who understands this.
It's not whether he was going to go to war or not, but his refusal to
play with others unless they praised him. He was happy with yes men, not
people with sense.

Gen. Milley is a patriot of the highest order
The President can't launch nukes on his own and the Chinese know this,
which makes Milley's actions treason for which he should be prosecuted.
Treason?  Nonsense.  Give it a rest, or go prosecute him yourself.
In fact the president can launch on his own.  Under protocols
long in
effect, there's supposed to be input and consultation and so on, but in
the end the president contacts the guy in charge in Omaha and releases
the weapons to him.  The guy then goes ahead and fights the war
as he
sees fit.  The release does not even have to be in the face of an
attack, but can be done in the expectation of an enemy launch.  The
difference might be a matter of five to seven minutes.
Doesn't there have to be a finding that we're in a war, before the
president can launch? No one figured the president would launch over a
trade war.
No one ever figured we'd have a president like Trump, either.
No one predicted a George W. Bush presidency either. How is it I'm the

And the issue was never whether he had it in for China per se, but how
he might chew off his own foot to escape the trap of leaving office.

All that is absolutely true. He still wasn't about to go to war with
China.

Why are you making defend Trump?

Gen. Milley is a patriot of the highest order and always has been. In
this case, China was worried (and had reason to believe) that a
deranged Trump would try something on his way out. Gen. Milley was
reassuring the Chinese that he would not let this happen, and he kept
his word.
There were similar discussions back in 1973 during the final days of
Watergate where the Russians needed reassurances about what Nixon
might do on his way out. (Can't remember if they were given by
Kissinger or senior generals in the Pentagon)

Right. Why wasn't Milley worried Trump might attack Putin? Oh, wait...

And this guy not only hasn't been court-martialed under the UCMJ, he still
has his job and was one of the main architects of the Afghanistan shit-show.
And then there's his cheerleading for spreading critical race theory among
the ranks.
Yeah, he's a real prize.
In the days following the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6,
Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley held a top-secret meeting with
senior military officials to take action against then Commander-in-
chief Donald Trump, blocking the president from potentially launching
nuclear weapons and ordering staff to ignore all orders except
Milley's, a new book entitled "Peril" by journalists Bob Woodward and
Robert Costa revealed, as reported by CNN.
Prior to taking action, Milley had multiple phone calls with China's
top general and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
If true, that's treason!

Also, why did journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa keep this under wraps
for several months and why did the couple hundred sources they used say
nothing at the time and remain anonymous?

Imagine giving a shit about what a communist ethnostate, which is committin
genocide in front of the world, and that caused the death of 15 million peopl
with a leaked virus they purposefully made more deadly, might think of ou
constitutional process and government

Imagine that. These people should be nowhere near power.

Nothing beats the genre of "We were so perilously close to the end of th
republic that we had to sit on these stories for our coming bestseller, whic

I would describe it less as a coup than as maneuvering towards a mutiny. But
yes, he should be prosecuted — assuming, as seems likely, that the allegations
in the book are true.
