Isn’t he in the 31st century now? That’s not even taboo. They have pills

I wouldn't be surprised if it was also in the silly new show "Superman
& Lois" with all it's 'Politically Correct' idiocy.

I'm guessing the new Superman's boyfriends will be Larry Lang followed
by Louis Lane. ;-)

31st century?? Even if Superman is able to live that long (he grew to
adult age normally), it would make Lois over 1000 years old! :-O

so one day he can go with Lois and the next, Louis.

Superboy has sex?

Boy those sure aren't the comics I read way back when when Clark Kent
thought holding Lana Lang's hand was the height of joy!

I do hope the modern Superboy has figured out the issues in "Man of
Steel, Woman of Kleenex" or he's quickly going to run out of partners!

Why is that an obstacle (even if true which I doubt)

After all Kes the bartender's waitress in Deep Space 9 was from a fast
metablolism race (was it the Ocampa?) that reached full maturity at
age 2....

You're a little mixed up in your Star Trek shows. :-)

The bar owner in Deep Space Nine was the Ferengi named Quark,
originally helped by his brother Rom and other bit-part staff.

Kes was the Ocampa in Voyager and was the medical assistant and
aeroponics gardener, and girlfriend of Neelix who became the starship's
chef (among other things). Her rapid maturing is correct though - her
species has an average lifepsan of only nine years.

But that was normal full maturity for her race and it was still pretty
creepy. Superboy is a young child in a teenage body. He didn’t mature
mentally. He’s just a little kid that looks older. And that makes his
squeeze a child molester.

Of course it was and in my opinion was intended to make her scenes
with the Ferengi creepier. No one ever suggested Kes had the mental
capacity of a human two year old.

I haven't seen the new Superman so can't comment on Superboy's
emotional maturity. One cannot imagine with his upbringing "average"
would enter into it.

I don't think Kes ever even met a Ferengi. Her boyfriend Nelix was a
Talaxian - completely different looking Star Trek 'rubber bits stuck on
a human' alien.

That's because it isn't true The plot device that aged up Jon was
spending years in another dimension and then the future and both times
being returned to roughly the point in time from which he came. But he
actually lived through those years.

The new Superman, the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, is concerned about
the environment, does not shy away from politics, and will soon begin a
romantic relationship with a male friend.
Republicans and their insane leader these days are always trying to "own
the libs" but we hear nothing but whines from the right when pop culture
"owns the conservatives."
I read the article. What you stated is not in it, nor have you provided
examples of overreaction from anyone else.

I rolled my eyes. That's gonna be a universal reaction, I think. At
least it's a different character.

It wasn't just the kiss. The comic panel showed him in costume, so he was
playing dress-up.

No one has address the issues raised by Larry Niven as pointed out by
others in this thread.

I haven’t even seen anybody mention it in the Facebook legion of
superheroes group but I think everybody already gave up on this most recent
reboot.

Superman has spent the last 70 years lifting objects that would instead
have torn like tissue paper if he applied that much force over such a
small area. The reason why that doesn't happen is because that's not
what Superman wanted to do. If the Supermen don't want to blast a hole
in their lovers, then that won't happen.

Niven would argue that while Superman would have no problem exercising
that degree of control 99.9% of the time, during orgasm might be a tad
more difficult.

On the other hand, MoS/WoK wasn't exactly the G rated DC Comic was it?

If memory serves, in John Byrnes' "Man of Steel", they tried to explain
that by saying it was partially telekinetic.

ObTV:
Dean Cane recently described Superboy being gay or bi as "bandwagoning".

The word you were looking for was "orgasm" or possibly "release".
Getting a hard on was not the issue.

However, Superman can lift a building without punching through it and
without it falling apart. In order to do that he'd have to make it more
durable than it really is. Superman's costume, which hasn't been
inherently indestructible for decades takes no damage if you hit him
with a nuke. His autonomic nervous system has nothing to do it. If
he's touching something and he doesn't want it to be damaged, it won't
be damaged.

That’s not what John Byrne set up in his crappy post crisis reboot. He’s
got superman exuding a slight force field which is why he has to wear a
skin tight costume and why his cape is always tattered.

Larry Niven was writing a comedy article.
Yes, he was; it wasn't serious, and was written for a men's magazine
called Knight back in 1969. I talked to Mr. Niven once about it,
probably in the late '80s. At that time, at least, he'd grown tired of
people bringing it up. He wrote the piece only because, like many of
us, he loved Superman and the intricate world that had been created for
him.

Noted Superman artist Curt Swan illustrated the article for a
glammed-up reprint in Penthouse Comix in 1995. It was by far the
highest rate Mr. Swan ever got for drawing Superman. (Supes is thinly
disguised in the piece because of copyright law.)

The first non-parody I wrote that I thought was good, this was
inspired by Larry Niven's hilarious essay "Man of Steel, Woman of
Kleenex", documenting possible methods of perpetuating the Kryptonian
humanoid species without having Clark molest Supergirl. (Youngsters:
There used to be a Supergirl who was Superman's cousin, not the
amorphous blob who can shape-shift to a blonde babe. She was even
worse than the current one, and being worse than a super-submissive
who falls in love with Lex Luthor is quite an accomplishment.) The
essay deliberately avoids the psychological issues, which this song
runs at and body-slams. Mr. Niven, one of the very few truly all-time
greats of science fiction, sang this song with me on stage (at
PhilCon, Philadelphia 1994), which I think counts as a Life Highlight.
lyrics
Well, I'm a small-town boy with a heart of gold,
Not to mention heat vision and breath that's cold,
I've got super strength, I'm immune to pain,
But I'm weak in the knees around Lois Lane.

She's got a sexy walk, and the bluest eyes;
Her clothes are all painted onto her thighs.
She's got great taste, so I just don't see
Why she's in love with my costume, but not with me.

I can change the course of rivers, bend steel in my bare hands,
But none of that hokey macho stuff makes me feel any more like a man.
I'm faster than a speeding bullet, I'm tougher than a moving train,
But why leap a tall building in a single bound,
When I'd rather jump Lois Lane.

Well, I'm a nice, easy-going kind of guy,
I've got mild manners and my wit is dry,
But it doesn't ever seem to matter what I say,
'Cause Lois never gives me the time of day.

But when I fly the city in my blue and red,
She'd risk the whole world just to get me to bed,
But that's not the way I want to let her get my bod,
It's not making love, it's seducing God.

I've told her a thousand times, we can never risk normal sex.
If I lose control, we could get David Cronenberg to do the special
effects,
I'm faster than a speeding bullet, I'm tougher than a moving train,
But why leap a tall building in a single bound,
When I'd rather jump Lois Lane.

Well, I'm sick of all the supervillains poking fun,
Just because I'm still a virgin at age thirty-one.
I don't like the names that I'm being called,
I couldn't care if Lex Luthor's always been more... bald.

I'd love to let Lois know the way I feel,
To let her know the man underneath the steel,
But she doesn't want to have a thing to do with me
Unless I'm out bashing baddies in my Bee Vee Dees.

I've had it with the hero biz, frustration has got me down.
Why should I bother with saving the city when I'd rather be painting
the town?
I'm faster than a speeding bullet, I'm tougher than a moving train,
But I'd throw it all away in a minute if I
Could just once get the jump on Lane.
