It wasn't. As AOC stated government officials are often invited to the
Met Gala so no one paid for it. As for the dress it sounds like AOC
found the designer and paid for it herself.
Usually I get the distorted lens that the right views the left through
because I see the starting and end points, but I don't understand the
straw man that holds that people who want to improve the lot of others
must be poor themselves. The only way I can make this work is if they
demand that leftists all follow religious dictates such as Jesus' to
give all their worldly goods to the poor. That's fine for disciples, I
guess, but most leftists don't claim to be religious disciples. Since
the days of Rawls, most that I know go with, "A rising tide raises all
boats," not a zero-sum game.
