BBC changes logo ... to one that looks near-identical
(too old to reply)

You have to wonder how much tax-payer money was wasted "changing" the logo

old logo (top) vs new logo (bottom):

Yet another trendy "design" company rakes in thousands of dollars for
doing nothing, and yet another management moron is paid a massive bonus
for having such a "good idea" look-busy-work. :-\

Just in case you can't spot the minor differences:
- slighlty more space between squares
- slightly smaller letters
and - a slightly different font (now a custom copyright one)

LOL! Yeah -- I saw that this afternoon and had exactly the same reaction!
(I think the colours may be reversed, too. At lease the only record I have
is white letters on black blocks.)

There's always been a few variations because, for example, the white
boxes won't be visible on a white background, so they have a black box
and black outline versions for that use.

Any sensible company will have multiple versions of their logos for
easy visibility on different backgrounds and/or both a landscape
version and portrait version for fitting into different spaces.

Well, I do like the new one better. That's gotta be worth $1.17 ...

A few years ago my state paid some PR firm over $100K to come up with a
"simplified" logo to use on all official correspondence. It turned out
to be a white capital letter (no particular fancy font) on a red square
with a small blue bar at the bottom.

Yeah except I didn't know there was a rectangular version, they must
have had to pay double for that (lol).
