Permalinksuggested that entrepreneur Elon Musk and Vice President-elect JD Vance were
plotting a hostile takeover to gain control of the White House.
During Thursdays broadcast of the ABC midday talk show, Goldberg wondered
about the amount of influence Musk was having on policy as Trumps
inauguration approaches.
Noting that she was not the only person questioning who is in charge, she
added, Ive been saying it for a while. Ive been saying that Elon Musk
believes hes president. I do.
Well, youve been calling him vice president, Behar interjected.
I called him vice president, I called him president, because I dont know
what JD is doing, Goldberg continued. I hardly ever I dont I dont
remember the last time we even talked about JD.
Hes planning the presidency when they get rid of Trump, Behar said.
So you think its Musk Musk-Vance? Goldberg asked.
Its possible, Behar replied.
Goldberg then turned to the camera, addressing Trump directly despite the
fact that she still refuses to say his name aloud: Hey, You-Know-Who, stay
away from the stairways.

By the time the show came back from commercial break, Goldberg had apparently
thought better of suggesting that someone might try to kill Trump and take
control of the presidency.
Okay, I need to clean something up, she said. Because my cat lays in wait
for me on my stairs all the time and thats what I was referring I was
thinking of that, I wasnt trying to indicate that they were actually
standing there with their legs out, hoping he would trip.
No one wants anything done to the president, cohost Sunny Hostin added.
It was light-hearted and its the holidays, come on, she complained. My
goodness!
We did not mean that anybody should hurt the president, Hostin said again.
Critics quickly pointed out the fact that The View falls under ABCs news
division and that the network just agreed on Saturday to shell out millions
over This Week anchor George Stephanopoulos on-air false claims that
President-elect Donald Trump had been found liable for rape in the E. Jean
Carroll case.
Fresh off a $15 million defamation settlement, ABC allows The View to
fantasize about assassination plots against President-elect Trump, Chad

The View falls under ABCs network news division. Will just keep reminding
you of that, Stephen L. Miller added.
