The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga [new; limited series]
(3:01 am, Netflix)

Paul Kevin Curtis was raised to revere Elvis, and he eventually

double Elvis revue. But when Curtis’ day job as a janitor led him to a
shocking discovery in a morgue, he went down an internet rabbit hole
into a world of startling conspiracy.

The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga        [new; limited series]
      (3:01 am, Netflix)
In Tupelo, Mississippi, the memory of Elvis Presley looms large. The
legendary singer was born there in 1935, and the town still plays host
to a fervent fandom, replete with copious impersonators. Tupelo native
Paul Kevin Curtis was raised to revere Elvis, and he eventually
partnered with his brother Jack for Double Trouble, a first-of-its-kind
double Elvis revue. But when Curtis’ day job as a janitor led him to a
shocking discovery in a morgue, he went down an internet rabbit hole
into a world of startling conspiracy.
"The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga," a new documentary from
Emmy-winning directors Maclain Way and Chapman Way, brings together
Curtis’ family, friends, and foes to share every detail of his twisty,
stranger-than-fiction tale. Curtis’ mission to expose the dark
underbelly of Tupelo sparks a rivalry that starts locally but climbs to
the highest office in Washington, DC. And, when a number of government
officials receive mail laced with deadly ricin, Curtis has to prove that
he’s not the devil in disguise — or go to prison for years. Three episodes.

A dark comedy from Dead to Me creator Liz Feldman, No Good Deed follows
three families vying to purchase the same multi-million-dollar Los

eyes and cutthroat buyers. Linda Cardellini, Luke Wilson, Abbi Jacobson,
Poppy Liu, O-T Fagbenle, Teyonah Parris, and Denis Leary also star. All
eight half-hour episodes stream today.
I'd watch this. Oh well, not doing streaming.

Post by Robin Miller
One week before Hanukkah, corporate lawyer Tory finds herself
unexpectedly unemployed and questioning the career she's dedicated years
to. As she helps her Bubby prepare for the holiday, she embarks on a
quest across Chicago to find the last box of coveted Hanukkah candles.
I have three extra boxes that I bought on the remainders shelf at the

Her search leads her to Rocky's, an Old Town bar, where she encounters
Jay, a charming doctor from Florida, his grandfather Sam and a cast of
quirky regulars who make her rethink everything. Torn between keeping
her job loss a secret and embracing a newfound sense of belonging, Tory
ends up bartending at Rocky's, transforming it into the vibrant
"Hanukkah on the Rocks" celebration. Through festive food, drinks, and
games, she revitalizes the bar, bonds with Jay, and finds the courage to
pursue her true calling. As Tory navigates the holiday, she learns that
sometimes a detour can lead you exactly where you're meant to be,
lighting the way to a future filled with joy, romance, and
self-discovery. Stars Stacey Farber, Daren Kagasoff and Marc Summers.

====Liz Feldman is an American comedian, actress, producer and writer.
She is best known as the creator and executive producer of the Netflix
dark comedy series Dead to Me. She also created One Big Happy and has
written for 2 Broke Girls, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and Blue Collar
TV

Now DEAD LIKE ME was created by Bryan Fuller. The guy is known for
PUSHING DAISIES and HANNIBAL and WONDERFALLS. Also has done a lot of
work on various Star Trek shows including creating STAR TREK
DISCOVERY. (I don't hold that last bit working on ST shows against him
as the bills must be paid.)

Which reminds me that I was flipping through the channels and came
across Ellen Degeneres and Portia selling some sort of cream. What
stopped me in my tracks was that I recognized Ellen but had trouble
figuring out who the lady next to her was until I realized that was
Portia. I don't know what caused the changes but it can't be just age
as she truly looks nothing like her old self.

Now Laura San Giacomo is someone who has aged but looks much like her
old self still. Just saw her last night on the original NCIS as she
was called in to help Gary Cole's character. He's been seeing a little
girl for some unknown reason on occasion. A girl that isn't there and
whom he can't recall ever knowing or seeing before he started seeing
her after his near death experience.

You're not the first on Usenet to complain about Liz Feldman's comedy
but I don't know what the objection is. Lots of neurotic whining about
her family?

Maria (movie) (3:01 am, Netflix)
Angelina Jolie plays the legendary opera singer Maria Callas in a biopic
from director Pablo Larraín (Jackie). Scripted by Steven Knight, Maria
chronicles the performer's final days as she is living in Paris in the
mid-1970s. Jolie's performance has been widely praised and should vault
her into Best Actress contention-- in fact, she may even be this year's
frontrunner. 2h 4m.
So who's overdubbing Jolie on the singing? Because I know she's not doing it
herself.

After a villain kidnaps Santa from the North Pole, an E.L.F (Extremely

world’s most accomplished tracker (Chris Evans) to find Santa and save
Christmas. 2h 3m.

Dexter: Original Sin [new] (3:01 am, Paramount+ With Showtime)
The first of two Dexter spinoffs coming in the next year, "Original Sin"
is a 1991-set prequel series centering on a 20-something version of
serial killer Dexter Morgan-- now a Miami police intern-- originally played
by Michael C. Hall and played here by Patrick Gibson. Hall returns to
narrate the series, while Christian Slater plays Dexter's father, Harry,
and Molly Brown takes over as his younger sister, Debra. Patrick
Dempsey, Reno Wilson, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, and James Martinez
also star-- some also playing younger versions of familiar
characters-- while Sarah Michelle Gellar guests. Ten episodes released
weekly through Feb. 14.
Definitely in on this one. I really enjoyed the parent show, so this show will
have to work to disappoint me.

Yeah, I am mystified. Frank retiring is about all they can pull off at

We have the technology...

Jolie never learned to play the piano. Typically, singers have learned
some piano so they can accompany themselves. She says she used to sing
but an ex disliked her voice (It's all the guy's fault!) so she stopped.

She took vocal and Italian lessons for months. Then audio engineering
blended her voice with recordings of the real woman.

Callas's recording are available. Just buy those.

La Palma [new; complete limited series] (3:01 am, Netflix)
A Norwegian family vacationing on La Palma faces disaster when a young
researcher discovers alarming signs of an imminent volcanic eruption
that could trigger a massive tsunami. Norwegian series; 4 episodes.
*Could* trigger or *does* trigger the tsunami? Because that's the only reason
I'd watch something like this. Not gonna sit through two hours of people
worrying about imminent destruction only to have nothing materialize.
I'm spoiling this: It's an evil plot. Sweden is behing it all!
I just found out something life-changing in its awesomeness: the Swedish word
for 'speed' is 'fart'!

Cue Beavis & Butthead: Hehe, hehe, hehe...
