The 2025 Academy Awards nominations were announced on Thursday morning. The
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences delayed the announcement from
January 17 due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area, which gave
members a longer time to vote.

The 97th Annual Academy Awards will be hosted by stand-up comedian and former
late-night host Conan O’Brien. The Oscars ceremony will air live from the
Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC
and Hulu.

The controversial musical crime drama “Emilia Pérez,” a film about a Mexican
drug lord who becomes a transgender woman, led the nominations with 13 total
nods. “Conclave,” a drama about electing a new pope, earned eight nominations
but missed out on a Best Director nomination for Edward Berger and didn’t get
a nod for cinematography, which many insiders had predicted.

“The Brutalist” and “Wicked” each scored 10 nominations. “Conclave” and “A
Complete Unknown” received eight, while “Anora” got six.

There were several other notable snubs on the list, including no nomination
for Nicole Kidman for her role in “Babygirl” and Angelina Jolie’s leading
part in “Maria.”

Four out of five Best Actress nominees were nominated for the first time,
including Demi Moore, who got a nomination for “The Substance” following her

Talk about a complete fantasy. Cartel bosses notoriously have to sleep with
one eye open with rivals and underlings constantly vying to take them out, so
the idea that one of them could become a trans-testicle and start prancing
around in dresses in that testosterone-fueled criminal underworld and he
wouldn't immediately be planted in the ground is nuts.

Twenty-five years ago we had a mob drama called THE SOPRANOS where the boss of
the family had to see his therapist in secret so he wouldn't be perceived as
weak and bumped off. Now Hollywood wants us to believe narco-terrorist drug
lords are swishing around in skirts and their murderous sicarios would just
accept it.

And I notice that despite all their virtue signaling on gender, they're still
segregating their awards by male and female.

Why? I mean, if it's no big deal when a dude in a dress beats the shit out of
real woman in a boxing ring, why should we have any gender distinction at all
when it comes to acting, where there actually is no inherent advantage based
on the sex of the performer?

Like everything else with the Left, it's ass-backwards. Where biological sex
actually *does* matter, they say we should ignore it and where it *doesn't*
matter, they insist on observing it.

And yet females who act insist on being called "actors" NOT
"actresses".... (I've never understood the reasoning behind that. It
seems like they're channelling their inner feminist by becoming men.)

The destruction of language is a big part of what the progs do. They
make edicts about what you can and can't say and if you choose not to
play along, they and their friends shun you socially and treat you like
you're a Neanderthal for not going along with their nonsense. You can
protest but you know it will fall on deaf ears: their followers are too
afraid to dissent from the views the self-styled elites are pushing.
Apologists will say that it's no big thing and it's not worth making a
fuss over but the foundations of society itself are being undermined by
all these cultural termites gnawing away at every aspect of life.

If Trump can stop this - or, ideally, reverse it - he will have done a
massive service to America and whatever other parts of the world imitate
this example. I'm hoping Canada will be one of those parts, once we've
got a sensible government again.

I believe it’s because actresses consider themselves to be of lesser value
than actors. But instead of doing anything about that, they just change the
name much as a janitor thinks he’s improved his lot in life by becoming a
maintenance engineer.

Each book is relatively short so there's no reason not to give them a
try. You can easily finish a book a day.

gnawing away at every aspect of life.
Read Douglas Murray's The War on the West and you'll see what inspired
that remark.
It reminds me of Harry Harrison’s Stainless Steel Rat
I've heard of that series but never read it. Mind you, I enjoyed his
book Bill, the Galactic Hero and some of his other stuff so maybe I need
to track it down.... ;-)
I haven’t read it in decades, but remember it fondly especially the earlier
books. Think of it as a science fiction take on IT TAKES A THIEF, or any
show where the world‘s greatest thief is caught and forced to reluctantly
work for the government.

If Trump can stop this - or, ideally, reverse it - he will have done a
massive service to America and whatever other parts of the world imitate
this example. I'm hoping Canada will be one of those parts, once we've
got a sensible government again.

The 2025 Academy Awards nominations were announced on Thursday morning. The
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences delayed the announcement from
January 17 due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area, which gave
members a longer time to vote.
The 97th Annual Academy Awards will be hosted by stand-up comedian and former
late-night host Conan O'Brien. The Oscars ceremony will air live from the
Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC
and Hulu.
The controversial musical crime drama EMILIA PÉREZ, a film about a Mexican
drug lord who becomes a transgender woman, led the nominations with 13 total
nods.
Now Hollywood wants us to believe narco-terrorist drug
lords are swishing around in skirts and their murderous sicarios would just
accept it.

*Best Actor in a Leading Role*

I believe it's because actresses consider themselves to be of lesser value
than actors. But instead of doing anything about that, they just change the
name much as a janitor thinks he's improved his lot in life by becoming a
maintenance engineer.
I once referred to Duckshoot as an actress but she was quick to take offense.
She said, "I'm an actor. There's no difference between a male actor and female
actor."

I asked her if that means she'd stand true to her principles and turn down an
Emmy or an Oscar for Best Actress should she ever be awarded one. I was given
the "But that's different!" stare of annoyance.

So I just found out that the Academy gave the star of EMILIA PÉREZ-- who is an
actual troon, not just an actor playing one-- a nomination for Best Actress.
Yes, a man in a dress has been nominated for Best Actress. And you know that
they/them will win, too. The Academy is no longer in the business of
recognizing talent, after all. It's in the business of sending political
messages, especially in the time of Trump. So the troon's win is a fait
accompli.

This will be the first time in the history of the Academy Awards that women
will be completely shut out of the lead acting prize. No woman will win a lead
acting award in 2025. And, of course, the other nominees will have to pretend
to be thrilled by this. The other nominees, mindful of the cameras on them
when the winner is read, will all clap and pretend that a man taking home the
Best Actress trophy is the greatest thing ever.

Of course all those other real women nominees deserve it because none of them
have the guts to stand up and speak out about this madness, where men are
shutting them out of their own category. And now that the monster they helped
to create is turning against them, it's hard to say this isn't the universe
sending them a message.

I guess that old saying is true after all: When you want a job done right,
send in a man to do it, even if that job is Best Actress.
