I only caught a bit of this one but I see Matlock was visited by Randy Travis in today's episode... there must be dozens of these 1970=80s dramas with a "Country Music" theme. I think Johnny Cash was even on Columbo once.

What caught my ear (the television is on, but I wasn't really watching it at the time) was the ending, where Randy Travis is in some C & W nightclub (in Atlanta?)as Travis is singing "Columbus Stockade Blues", a pretty decent version, ear catching more-so since I'm typing this way down in Columbus Georgia.

He was on an earlier episode, his car broke down and Matlock gave him a
ride, then gave him a job painting his house (but Randy was no good at
that). I can't remember the crime of the episode.

IN this case it fits the show better, since Matlock every so often pulls
out what seems like a small guitar (or maybe it's a ukelele, but he seems
to be playing it like a guitar), so he has an interest in that sort of
music.

They swapped episodes, yesterday MeTV ran The Juror instead of this one,
an homage to Fred Thompson who just died on the weekend, the actor being
in the episode (and yes, it was a stereotypical episode where the insider
lands on a jury and causes problems when they see things from a
professional angle, Quincy did such an episode and I'm sure other shows).

So today's was supposed to have aired yesterday.

MeTV is jumping around a lot. A bit over two months of weekday shows,
and we've gone through the first daughter, the other lawyer and now onto
the second daughter. Daniel Roebuck has joined the cast as another
lawyer, but except the introductory episode (where he was the criminal of
the week) he's yet to put in an appearance. I think the second
"investigator" is gone now too, he's been missing lately.

I always like the version in "Bound For Glory", two sisters apparently
playing it in the Hooverville in California, right before Ozark Buell
appears.

Actually the second appearance by Travis on Matlock. In the first, Ben
suggests that Travis would be a better C&W singer than a roofer.

Having the lifelong hatred of roofing work I've developed... I have to agree that just about anything beats roofing houses for a living.

Matlock asked if Randy Travis could paint the house, made because the
house needed painting and Randy's character needed the money.

But he was inept at it, and later admitted it wasn't his thing.

Now, painting I've found a much more pleasurable job... roofing was a killing in the Deep South heat.
