A Fistful of Dollars Series in the Works at Mark Gordon Pictures
----------------------------------------------------------------
Deadline brings word that Mark Gordon Pictures is developing a
TV series adaptation of A Fistful of Dollars, based on the 1964
spaghetti western starring Clint Eastwood and directed by Sergio
Leone.

Bryan Cogman (Game of Thrones) is reportedly in talks to adapt
the series for the small screen. According to the outlet, Mark
Gordon Pictures has acquired the rights to the film as well as
Akira Kurosawa's 1961 movie Yojimbo, which A Fistful of Dollars
was based on.

A Fistful of Dollars tells the story of a wandering stranger,
"The Man With No Name," who comes to a town riddled with violence
and uses wit and skill to trick the town's competing gangs into
destroying each other. The series will apparently pull from the
original source material in a contemporary retelling of the story
that launched Eastwood's career.

Earlier this year, Oscar-nominated producer Mark Gordon (Saving
Private Ryan, Grey's Anatomy) launched the new production company,
Mark Gordon Pictures, which is backed by Entertainment One (eOne).
Mark Gordon Pictures has an existing deal with the company to
acquire, develop, and produce projects "spanning multiple genres
and mediums."

Really? A Fistful of Dollars launched Eastwood's career? I guess the
writer never heard of Rawhide, which featured Eastwood for 7 seasons. It
seems doubtful he ever would have had a chance to appear in Fistful of
Dollars without Rawhide on his resume....
