Hosts of "The View" made it clear that they weren't happy that President-
elect Donald Trump's pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert
F. Kennedy Jr. might crack down on weight loss drugs like Ozempic.

During Thursday's episode of the ABC talk show, cohost Whoopi Goldberg
unleashed a rant against RFK. Jr. whom she said plans to crack down on the
off-label use of Ozempic by people who want to manage their weight because
Americans are "addicted to drugs and weight loss should come from diet and
exercise."

"Why should a numbers cruncher with no medical background have any say? I
don't understand why you want to be in my business!" Goldberg said, as her
cohosts Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines agreed.

The View is upset that RFK Jr. is looking to crack down on the off-
label use of Ozempic to manage their weight. Whoopi scoffs at the
idea that weight loss should come from diet and exercise.
"I don't understand why you want to be in my business!" she whines.

Goldberg argued that managing weight wasn't just about food and said
sometimes people are "born genetically larger."

"I want to say this to [RFK Jr.] because you're setting folks up for shame,"
Whoopi said. "That's what you're trying ... maybe you don't know you're doing
... I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt."

"I'm gonna say you don't realize what you do to people when you say [what you
said] because it doesn't work for everybody. I'm going to show you sir,
because I weighed close to 300 pounds less than two years ago and without the
Mounjaro, this would not have happened," she added, before she stood up and
showed off her slimmer physique.

"You cannot take it out of people's hands if it could help," Goldberg
continued. "If we can keep people healthy. If we can get rid of diabetes. If
we can get rid of all the things, cardiovascular, what's wrong with trying to
do that?"

Joy Behar interjected, "Nothing," before Whoopi continued calling out RFK Jr.
and said he was wrong about weight loss drugs.

Drugs to manage weight have become a hot topic as a growing number of people
seek their weight loss benefits.

However, some unpleasant side effects of taking these types of drugs include
gastrointestinal problems, including abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.
There is also a potential risk of thyroid tumors and cancer associated with
[Novo Nordisk's] Ozempic, another popular option, according to studies done
with rodents, as The Daily Wire previously reported.

A recent head-to-head study between two popular weight loss drugs, Eli
Lilly's Zepbound and Novo Nordisk's Wegovy, showed that users lost more
weight using Zepbound.

According to the study, which was sponsored by Lilly, people using Zepbound
lost 20.2% of their body weight over 72 weeks, while Wegovy users lost 13.7%.
In pounds, that means Zepbound users lost an average of 50 lbs, while Wegovy
users lost 33.

Hey, Hoo-Pie, Biden's HHS secretary, Xavier Becerra, has no medical
background, either. He's a lawyer by profession and his one major
qualification for selection to the job is that his skin is brown. Literally
that's why he was picked-- so the Biden people could crow about appointing
"the first Latino HHS secretary".

I believe you're thinking about "Rachel" Levine who has another
high-profile job at HHS.

Heard on NPR that the pharmaceutical industry is trying to get these weight
loss drugs prescribed to illegal drug addicts, as they supposedly help in
kicking the habit.
"Why should a numbers cruncher with no medical background have any say?
And yet a health insurance company algorithm can deny you medical coverage.
I don't understand why you want to be in my business!" Goldberg said

People should be far more worried that the braindead wacko with zero
medical knowledge will get rid of important vaccinations. But, when you
vote in a complete looney as President, if's a foregone conclusion that
he'll employ other uselees loonies in important jobs (partly to make
himself look better!). Thank the Gods that most of use don't have to
live in the USA!! :-\

While I appreciate people use it as a "weight loss medication", my
endocrinologist calls it a diabetes medication. I've been seeing him
for more than 10 years (which I wouldn't have done if I didn't trust
him implicitly) and know he's not big on fads.

As opposed to the women on The View - who are VERY big on fads.

I have shared the views I've expressed here with him (i.e. that I know
some people want to use it as a diet drug and that that kind of demand
for it has dramatically driven up the cost which I think is immoral)
and he agrees with me.

Sorry - but this is a sore point with me which now that I'm retired is
heavily impacting my budget (to the tune of about $200+ a month)

It was explained to me that all the people that aren’t diabetic using this
stuff for weight loss fab diets were impacting the amount that was
available for people that are really sick.

If this stuff is made from rare-earth elements, so that raw materials
are actually scarce, then we probably shouldn't blame its shortage on
the fact that it remains under patent for the next few years...

Which was the core of my argument - we're talking about a drug that in
the standard package is one syringe which in my dosage is about a
month's worth taken one dose a week.

Point is of course supply and demand and at present that's about
80-90% for the weight loss types - which makes a $50/month medication
a $ 250/month medication and given diabetes is much higher amongst
those age 50-60+ that tends to be amongst those least able to pay.

When I retired just under 3 years ago I had done a pretty good job
preparing financially even though I expected post-COVID inflation
given the way all Western governments were heavily into deficit
financing during COVID (which was pretty much inevitable to avoid a
much worse repeat of 2008) but it's definitely higher than I expected.

While I'm disgusted with that crew most of the time, I'm especially
disgusted by those who would use Ozempic without medical need - it's
one of the diabetic medications that has the side effect of
suppressing hunger pangs (similar to how Viagra was made as a headache
pain reliever - no joke! - but was quickly found to have a certain
side effect...) - and because Whoopie and her fangrrls have found it
can double as a "diet drug" the cost of Ozempic has escalated through
the roof to the detriment of diabetics many of whom actually have
prescriptions for it. (It's about 2-3x the cost of any other
medication I take)

In other words, non-medical use of Ozempic marks you as a selfish
self-absorbed man or woman.

The same liberals who demonized Trump for supposedly making insulin

Now lets be clear - a lot of type II diabetics ARE overweight (that's
one of the risk factors - and I've dropped 20 lbs in the 2 1/2 years
since my wife's death mostly due to skipping meals and eating lighter
- that and regularly walking the dog 1/2 hr to an hour a day) but the
way my specialist put it to me "your blood sugar is what Ozempic is
for and the fact that the key side effect of Ozempic is diet
suppression is a side effect I bet you'll appreciate" (that's more or
less a direct quote)

Nothing wrong with it being used to help diabetics but it's being
pushed at people who are simply plain old fat. This drives up the
cost which is wrong.
