This is a pretty odd story about a dancing cactus that "speaks" (or
rather plays recordings in) three languages. One of those languages is
Polish and the Polish recording is apparently not the kind of thing you
want the average child to hear....

Made in China of course and since they don’t give a shit about copyrights,
they apparently just cluelessly downloaded a tune by a Polish rapper and
installed it on the toy.

I’m wondering why they chose Polish as one of the languages for the toy,
(along with English and Spanish) as it’s not spoken by that many people
and going with French for example, would get them a larger market share?

I was wondering the same thing. If I were creating a toy and putting
multiple languages on it, I'd prioritize widely-spoken languages in the
area where I planned to sell it. Polish wouldn't be very high on the
list except in Poland itself and the bits of neighbouring countries that
still have enclaves of Polish-speakers like Ukraine. Any number of
languages are MUCH more widely spoken, like Mandarin, Hindi, French,
German, etc.

Is Christmas a big deal in China and India?
Chiefly as one of the best marketing times in the whole year to the
west.

The big one in China is Chinese new year which being lunar varies but
is typically in mid February and it is common for 3 weeks to be taken.

We had one vendor's rep out of Hong Kong who changed jobs as they
always wanted her to attend a US major trade show (and to be sure at
least pre Covid it IS one of the top 5 shows in the world each year in
this business) and she is now working as a manufacturer's rep
commuting between HK and the Mainladn.

I'm pretty sure that's something I'm NOT getting for my mother-in-law
in Burlington.... (which as you probably know is at most an hour's
drive from Kitchener)

Well, I suppose that depends on how you feel about your
mother-in-law.... ;-)

I said that to my wife and she had already heard of it and agreed that
it wasn't a gift for her 85 year old mom.
